The Farm
Fiwagoh owns a 24 acre parcel of land. In this land, with the vision of becoming self-sustainable ministry in the future, we begun slowly by cultivating and growing all types of groceries for daily use to our children and staff. With the sufficient supply of water from our borehole, we are able to grow short term crops such as: kale, spinach, cabbages, onions. And in the same property also we have large bushes of sugarcane plants which our children enjoy munching every Sunday when they are out of school, we also have more bushes of bananas in our land, and soon we are coming up with a better fruit orchard where we are going to plant more lemon trees, oranges, passion fruits etc.
Early this year (2022) we were invaded by herds of buffaloes which broke from the wildlife fence nearby Fiwagoh home and came to our 7 acres of land and eat up everything on the lower part of our large farm, which now requires a proper permanent wall fence in order to protect the farm from being destroyed by these wild animals again.
With the continued support and cooperation of Kite Child Org in USA, we have 9 kits of green houses and 3 dam liners to catch the running rain water which have enabled us to grow more than what we can use of these groceries in the home, of which with the extra groceries, we do sell to market vendor mothers in our community, who also go and sell them to the community for a little profit. The surplus of the funds sold in our farm, has been put into good use of improving the diet of our little children ages from 2-7 years and the special children living with HIV problems.
The Fiwagoh Mission farm has impacted the lives of so many people in our community and the surrounding poor families.
The farm has also provided daily casual jobs to people who earn their living by working in our farm.
Other advantages from our farm, is how we have partnered with several farming institutions in Kenya, who in turn, have been sending their trainees to come and learn more from our farm. Our aging youth in the children’s home have also been taking their afternoon practical lessons in the farm, with our good farm manager Mr. Harun, is raising very competent farmers in the future.
If you feel impressed to be part of this farm project and would like to see it moving and blessing more people in Kenya, please earmark your support as Farm Project.
